Reversetranskriptase
ReverseTranskriptase is an enzyme that synthesizes a DNA copy from an RNA template. This process is the reverse of the usual flow of genetic information, which goes from DNA to RNA through transcription. Reverse transcriptase is primarily found in retroviruses, such as the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). In these viruses, the genetic material is RNA, and reverse transcriptase is essential for them to replicate within a host cell.
The enzyme works by using the RNA strand as a guide to build a complementary DNA strand.
Beyond its role in viral replication, reverse transcriptase has become a crucial tool in molecular biology
