Resen

Resen is a town located in the central part of North Macedonia, situated in the northern part of the Pelagonia region. It lies at the foot of the Baba mountain and is traversed by the Dragor river. The town is a significant administrative, economic, and cultural center for its surrounding area. Its history dates back to ancient times, with evidence of settlement from the Hellenistic and Roman periods. During the Ottoman era, Resen developed as a market town.

The economy of Resen is largely based on agriculture, with a particular focus on fruit cultivation, especially apples. The region is known for its fertile soil and favorable climate for growing a variety of fruits. Other agricultural activities and small-scale manufacturing also contribute to the local economy. Resen is also recognized for its cultural heritage, most notably the Resen Castle, also known as the Konak of Ahmed Niyazi Bey. This impressive building, constructed in the early 20th century, showcases a unique blend of architectural styles and serves as a museum and cultural venue. The town hosts various cultural events and festivals throughout the year, celebrating local traditions and arts. Resen is connected to other parts of the country by road, facilitating transportation and trade.
