Reprodukcióba, also known as reproduction, is the biological process by which new individual organisms, or new life forms, are produced from one generation to the next. This fundamental process ensures the continuation of species. There are two primary modes of reproduction: asexual and sexual.

Asexual reproduction involves a single parent organism and produces offspring that are genetically identical to the parent. This method is common in bacteria, archaea, and many single-celled eukaryotes, as well as in some multicellular organisms like plants and fungi. Examples include binary fission, budding, and fragmentation. Asexual reproduction is generally faster and requires less energy than sexual reproduction, but it offers less genetic variation.

Sexual reproduction involves two parents, typically a male and a female, who produce offspring through the combination of specialized reproductive cells called gametes. Fertilization, the fusion of male and female gametes (sperm and egg), creates a zygote that develops into a new individual. This process introduces genetic diversity among offspring, which can be advantageous for adaptation to changing environments. While more complex and energy-intensive, sexual reproduction is prevalent in most multicellular organisms, including animals, plants, and fungi. The variation generated through sexual reproduction is a key driver of evolution.
