Rendszertelméleti, which translates to "systems theory" in English, is a field of study that examines complex systems, their interactions, and the principles that govern their behavior. It is an interdisciplinary approach, drawing from various fields such as mathematics, engineering, biology, sociology, and psychology. The core idea of systems theory is that understanding the individual components of a system is insufficient to grasp the system's overall function. Instead, it emphasizes the importance of relationships, interactions, and emergent properties that arise from these interconnections.

Key concepts within systems theory include feedback loops, which describe how the output of a system can influence its input, leading to either self-regulation or amplification. Open systems, a common focus, are those that exchange energy and matter with their environment, adapting and evolving over time. Closed systems, in contrast, are isolated from their surroundings. Systems theory seeks to identify universal patterns and principles that apply across diverse types of systems, whether they are biological organisms, social structures, or mechanical devices.
