Reiskette
Reiskette is a German brand name for a series of automatic rice cookers that first appeared in the early 1970s. The original products were manufactured by a small family‑run company in Hamburg, and the name has since become a generic term in German for a bulky metal rice cooker. The classic model is a cylindrical aluminum pot with a removable lid that contains an electronic temperature sensor. When a user places a measured amount of uncooked rice and the correct proportion of water into the pot, the user presses a single start button. The cooker automatically heats the water through a heating plate at the bottom of the pot and, once the water level rises to the sensor, it automatically shuts off the heating element. This simple, fail‑proof operation made the Reiskette popular in households that had no experience with rice preparation.
The Reiskette was marketed in a bright, light‑pink finish and was sold through department stores, kitchen appliance
