Rehidratálás

Rehidratálás is a medical and physical process aimed at replenishing the body's fluids and electrolytes that have been lost due to various reasons such as high temperatures, intense physical activity, or illnesses. The word is derived from Latin terms "re-" (again) and "hydrare" (to moisten), indicating a return to a previously moistened or water-saturated state.

The process of rehidratálás typically involves the administration of fluids, either orally or intravenously, to restore the body's fluid balance. The goal is to replenish the amount of lost fluids, salvage electrolyte balance, and compensate for the sudden changes in blood volume. The extent and severity of rehidratálás depend on factors such as the duration and intensity of fluid loss, the speed of rehydration, and the age, health status, and other factors of the individual.

Oral rehydration is often promoted through proper beverages such as isotonic drinks, water, or a variety of electrolyte-rich beverages. In situations where oral rehydration is not sufficient, intravenous fluids may be administered to significantly accelerate the rehydration process.

Rehidratálás may also refer to a common method of reviving plants that have been stressed by drought or water deficiency, through the prolonged soaking of the roots, thereby replenishing the plant's absorbed water. This is often applied in plant nurturing and cultivation.
