It serves as a stable key that lets regulators, firms, and software unambiguously link actions and requirements to the responsible authority. RegulatorIDs are used in financial regulation, environmental compliance, energy governance, and telecommunications regulation, among others.

Format and scope: RegulatorIDs are created and maintained in registries or standards. Formats vary, but they are typically alphanumeric and may include a jurisdiction prefix to indicate geographic scope.
