Registravim

Registravim is a proposed registry and format intended to capture and share the essential state of a Vim editor session. It encompasses configuration, plugin versions, scripts, runtime state, and command history to enable reproducible editing environments.

Overview: It defines a registry model comprising a manifest describing a session, a snapshot of the Vim runtime, and a registry of plugins and their versions. A registravim file or directory can be created by a tool and used by another to recreate the session.

Format and usage: The reference implementation envisions a manifest file (registravim.json) with fields such as vim_version, config_paths, plugins, and system_info; a session snapshot captures options and recent commands. Together these elements allow a consumer to provision a matching editor environment, install the same plugins, and load the same buffers.

Adoption and status: Registravim is community-driven and not an official standard. There is no formal specification, and practical support varies by platform and plugin manager. Cross-compatibility between Vim and Neovim, and between different operating systems, remains a challenge.
