Reflektierende

Reflektierende is a German term formed from the verb reflek­tieren and is primarily used as the present participle adjective meaning that something reflects. The form reflektierende appears in various declined compounds such as reflektierende Oberfläche or reflektierende Kleidung. When used as a noun, the capitalized form Die Reflektierenden can refer to people who reflect or think, but this nominal usage is uncommon and highly context-dependent.

In science and industry, reflektierende describes surfaces and materials with reflective properties. A common application is reflektierende Kleidung, which uses retroreflective materials to improve visibility in low-light conditions. The term also appears in physics to describe light, sound, or other waves that bounce off a boundary.

In psychology, pedagogy and philosophy, reflektierend or reflek­tierend denotes a mode of thinking characterized by careful consideration and self-reflection.
