Reduktoida is a term used in speculative or nascent theoretical contexts to denote objects, entities, or processes that are reduced or simplified relative to a reference form. The name combines the root redu- from Latin reducere, meaning to bring back or to reduce, with the -oida suffix commonly used in taxonomic naming. In published discussions, reduktoida is treated as a provisional label rather than a formally recognized category.

Disciplinary usage varies. In chemistry and materials science, reduktoida is sometimes described as reduction products — species formed under reducing conditions that exhibit a lower oxidation state or reduced oxygen content compared with a parent compound. In biology, the term has appeared in informal discussions of reductive evolution, potentially designating lineages or cell types with markedly streamlined genomes or organelles; such usage is illustrative rather than taxonomically validated. In linguistics or cognitive science, reduktoida has been used as a provisional term for reduced phonetic or morphophonemic forms that occur in rapid or unstressed speech.

Because the term is not part of standard nomenclature, there is no shared diagnostic framework for what constitutes a reduktoid. Proponents emphasize its usefulness as a heuristic for comparing reductive processes across fields; critics caution that it risks ambiguity without explicit criteria. The term remains niche and largely contextual, appearing mainly in speculative, interdisciplinary, or fictional contexts.
