Rectoprostatic

Rectoprostatic refers to anatomical structures or conditions involving both the rectum and the prostate gland. These two organs are closely situated within the male pelvic cavity, making them susceptible to shared pathological processes or requiring combined consideration in medical assessments and treatments. The rectum is the final section of the large intestine, terminating at the anus, and plays a role in the storage and elimination of feces. The prostate gland is a small, walnut-sized gland situated just below the bladder and in front of the rectum, surrounding the urethra. It produces seminal fluid, a component of semen.

Given their proximity, conditions affecting one organ can sometimes impact the other. For instance, inflammation or tumors in the rectum can press on or invade the prostate, and vice versa. Surgical procedures involving either the rectum or the prostate may also consider the other organ's position and function. Medical imaging techniques such as MRI or CT scans are often used to visualize both structures together when investigating pelvic abnormalities. The term rectoprostatic is therefore employed in urology, proctology, and general medicine when discussing issues that encompass both the rectal and prostatic regions.
