Raëlianism

Raëlianism is a new religious movement founded in 1974 by Claude Vorilhon, who is known as Raël. The movement's central belief is that life on Earth was scientifically created by extraterrestrial beings called Elohim. Raël, who claims to have met an Elohim envoy in 1973, teaches that these Elohim are highly advanced scientists who have visited Earth multiple times throughout history, shaping human evolution and influencing major religious figures.

According to Raëlian doctrine, the Elohim created humanity in their own image and have guided human development, with prophets like Buddha, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad being sent by them to deliver messages. Raël positions himself as the final prophet, tasked with revealing the truth about the Elohim and preparing humanity for their eventual return. The movement emphasizes scientific understanding, peace, and personal freedom, advocating for a society based on love and tolerance.

Raëlianism is known for its distinctive symbol, a star and crescent moon containing a swastika, which they explain represents infinity in time and space, and the swastika symbolizes universal love and harmony, drawing parallels to ancient symbols. The movement has established communities worldwide and engages in various activities, including promoting meditation, advocating for human rights, and producing educational materials about their beliefs. While some interpretations of their teachings have generated controversy, Raëlians maintain that their core message is one of enlightenment and the advancement of humanity.
