Rasterimuodot

Rasterimuodot, also known as raster graphics or bitmap images, are digital images composed of a grid of individual pixels. Each pixel, or picture element, is the smallest controllable element of a picture represented on a screen. These pixels are arranged in rows and columns, forming a complete image. The color and brightness of each pixel are individually defined, contributing to the overall appearance of the image.

The resolution of a raster image is determined by the number of pixels it contains, often expressed as width by height (e.g., 1920x1080 pixels). Higher resolution means more pixels and thus a more detailed image. Common file formats for raster images include JPEG, PNG, GIF, and BMP. Raster graphics are ideal for representing photographs and complex images with subtle color gradations. However, when scaled up, raster images can appear pixelated or "blocky" because the individual pixels become visible. Editing raster images typically involves manipulating individual pixels or groups of pixels using software such as Adobe Photoshop or GIMP.
