Rarvoina

Rarvoina is a coastal town and port in Valoria, a nation on the southern shore of the Mareth Ocean. It lies on the western edge of Valoria’s Coastal District, about 35 kilometers north of the capital’s metropolitan area. The town centers on a natural harbor bounded by basalt cliffs and sandy beaches, with a small river delta at its northern edge.

Founded as a fishing village in the 16th century, Rarvoina grew through the maritime trade era and gained a formal harbor in the 1870s after railway access connected it to regional markets. The 20th century brought industrial fish processing and shipbuilding, followed by diversification toward services and tourism in the late 20th century.

The local economy remains anchored by fishing and seafood processing, with a growing tourism sector focused on boating, coastal walks, and the historic town center. The harbor accommodates commercial fishing fleets and occasional passenger ferries, and a small light industrial zone hosts food processing and light manufacturing.

The town has a preserved Old Town with narrow lanes and a waterfront Market Hall. The Rarvoina Lighthouse, dating to 1892, marks the harbor entrance. The annual Festival of the Tide celebrates maritime heritage with concerts, markets, and boat parades. The population is predominantly Valorian, with active civil society and bilingual education in Valorian and the regional language.
