Rakodógépek, commonly known as loaders in English, are a type of construction machinery used for scooping and moving materials. They are typically equipped with a large bucket attached to articulated arms at the front of the vehicle. The primary function of a rakodógép is to load loose materials, such as soil, gravel, demolition waste, or sand, into trucks or onto other transport vehicles. They can also be used for site clearing, grading, and other earthmoving tasks.

There are several types of rakodógépek, with the most common being the wheel loader and the skid-steer loader. Wheel loaders, characterized by their large rubber tires, are versatile and can travel across various terrains. Skid-steer loaders, on the other hand, are smaller and more maneuverable, utilizing a unique skid-steering system where wheels on each side operate independently to allow for tight turns. Other variations include compact track loaders, which use tracks instead of wheels for enhanced traction on soft ground, and backhoe loaders, which combine the functionality of a loader with a backhoe on the rear.

The operation of a rakodógép involves the driver using controls to lower the bucket, scoop material, lift it, and then reverse to dump the load. The hydraulic system powers the movement of the arms and the bucket, allowing for precise control.
