Rakennustavia refers to traditional building methods and techniques used in Finland. These methods have evolved over centuries, shaped by the availability of local materials, climate, and cultural practices. Log building, in particular, is a prominent rakennustavia, with distinct regional variations in log joining and wall construction.

Thick log walls provided natural insulation, while techniques like using moss between logs helped seal against drafts and cold. Roofing materials varied, with turf, wood shingles, and later, metal, being common.
