The name Ragulatorin is in-universe fiction, derived from the imaginary Ragula Ridge and popularized by a 22nd-century mineralogy text. In various works, the term has become a shorthand for an extraordinary, scarce mineral with unique optical and physical traits.

In the fictional description, Ragulatorin crystallizes in a triclinic system and has a Mohs hardness around 6.5 to 7. Its color ranges from deep blue to violet, with a pale iridescent sheen. The refractive index is stated to be about 1.75 to 1.82, and the density ranges from 3.2 to 3.6 g/cm3. The mineral is described as possessing a vitreous luster and faint pleochroism under polarized light, with notable stability under high temperatures.

Occurrence is imagined in high-temperature metamorphic settings at subduction zones, often within geodes embedded in ultramafic rocks and accompanied by trace sulfides and oxide inclusions.
