RTKGNSS

RTKGNSS stands for Real-Time Kinematic Global Navigation Satellite System. It is a technique used to enhance the accuracy of GNSS positioning. Unlike standard GNSS receivers that typically offer meter-level accuracy, RTKGNSS can achieve centimeter-level precision. This is accomplished by using a stationary base station that receives GNSS signals and transmits corrections to a mobile rover receiver in real-time.

The base station is positioned at a known, precisely surveyed location. It continuously calculates its position and the errors in the satellite signals it receives. These error corrections are then broadcast to the rover. The rover, in turn, uses these corrections, along with its own GNSS measurements, to compute a highly accurate position. The key to RTK's precision lies in mitigating common errors such as atmospheric delays and satellite orbit inaccuracies.

RTKGNSS has a wide range of applications. It is extensively used in surveying, precision agriculture, machine control for construction equipment, autonomous vehicle navigation, and even in some smartphone applications requiring precise location data. The effectiveness of RTKGNSS relies on the quality of the GNSS signals, the distance between the base and rover (as corrections become less effective with greater separation), and the processing algorithms employed.
