RGBväriavaruudet, often simply referred to as RGB, are additive color models that use red, green, and blue light to create a spectrum of colors. In these models, the primary colors of light—red, green, and blue—are added together in various proportions to produce a wide range of other colors. When all three primary colors are mixed at their maximum intensity, the result is white light. Conversely, the absence of any light creates black.

The specific way in which red, green, and blue are combined and the range of colors they can produce are defined by a particular RGB color space. Different RGB color spaces exist, each with its own characteristics and applications. Common examples include sRGB, which is widely used for web content and displays, and Adobe RGB, which offers a broader color gamut suitable for professional photography and print. The choice of RGB color space impacts the accuracy and richness of colors displayed on a screen or reproduced in print. The values assigned to red, green, and blue components typically range from 0 to 255 in an 8-bit system, representing the intensity of each color. These combinations are fundamental to digital imaging, video, and display technologies.
