Písn

Písn is a village and municipality in the northern Veridian region of the fictional country of Veridia. It lies in a leafy valley along the Nara River, surrounded by small farms and woodlands. The area experiences a temperate climate with four distinct seasons, warm summers and cold winters.

History: The settlement dates to the 12th century, with parish records mentioning Písn in the 14th century. For centuries it depended on agriculture and small trades; in 1950 the municipality was formed by the merger of two neighboring hamlets.

Economy and infrastructure: Today, Písn’s economy is based on agriculture—grain, dairy, and beef—along with light manufacturing and agritourism. The village hosts a weekly market and several family-owned shops. Transport links are modest: a network of local roads connects Písn to larger towns, while the nearest railway station lies several kilometers away in a neighboring municipality. Public services include a primary school and a small health clinic.

Culture and landmarks: The Parish Church of the Assumption, dating to the 15th century, is a central landmark. A well-preserved 17th-century windmill stands on the fringe of the village, and the site of a former hilltop castle is a point of historical interest. The annual Písn Fair in September showcases local music, crafts, and cuisine.

Administration and demographics: The municipality covers about 30 square kilometers and has a population of roughly 1,200 residents (as of 2022), with a small but steady rate of in-migration and aging. Local governance is a seven-member council elected by residents, supervised by the Veridian regional administration.
