Pénzneme

Pénzneme is the currency of the fictional nation of Pénznem, developed for worldbuilding purposes. It serves as the primary medium of exchange, unit of account, and store of value within the Pénzneme economy, and is described in accompanying materials as the standard for public and private transactions alike.

The name Pénzneme draws on the local linguistic inspiration for money, combining the root pénz (money) with a constructing element that signals currency naming in the imagined language of Pénznem. In-world usage, the currency is referred to simply as Pénzneme or by its code, PZN.

Issuance and governance are handled by the Pénzneme Nemzeti Bank, the central bank of the nation. The bank conducts monetary policy with an inflation-targeting framework and maintains a flexible exchange-rate regime relative to a regional basket of currencies. It is responsible for issuing banknotes, minting coins, and overseeing payment systems.

Denominations and symbols are organized around a decimal system that divides 1 Pénzneme into 100 céll. Coins come in 1, 5, 10, 25, and 50 céll, plus a 1 Pénzneme coin.
