Pääomakulut, often translated as capital expenditures or CAPEX, refers to the funds used by a company to acquire, upgrade, and maintain physical assets such as property, plants, buildings, technology, or equipment. These expenditures are essential for a company's long-term growth and operational efficiency.

Unlike operating expenses, which are incurred for the day-to-day running of a business and are expensed in the period they are incurred, capital expenditures are investments that are expected to provide benefits for more than one year.
