Puutuotteet refers to products derived from wood, encompassing a broad range of items manufactured utilizing wood as a primary material. These products can be broadly categorized into several types, including but not limited to, timber products, wood fibers, and other processed wood materials.

Timber products, often used in construction or as finished goods, include items such as plywood, oriented strand board (OSB), and laminated veneer lumber (LVL). These products utilize heat, adhesives, or-binding techniques to create a solid and stable piece from multiple wood layers. Common industrial and commercial applications include building frameworks, exterior sheathing, and interior surfaces.

Wood fibers, obtained from mechanical disintegration or chemical treatment of wood, are used in various applications such as packaging materials, cardboard and paper products, and cellulose-based materials like texturizers, thickeners, or emulsifiers. The obtained fibers can be refined into paperboard or compete with mineral fibers as an insulator.

Processed wood materials often derive from transformation of wood into a refined product. Some processed wood materials find extensive use in various consumer products - you can encounter these materials in the electronics, cosmetics or textile industries, as well as in sector of energy (biofuels et.al.). Initial products from commercial wood processing often vary significantly; they might have the essential characteristics of natural products with consistent physical attributes and minimal chemical residuals.
