Putbacks
In basketball, a putback refers to a successful shot taken immediately after an offensive rebound. When a player or their teammate misses a shot, the ball rebounds off the rim or backboard. If an offensive player secures this rebound and scores before the ball touches the floor or another player, it is called a putback. This play is a common and effective way to score points, especially in situations where the offensive team is close to the basket.
Putbacks are often executed by players who excel at positioning themselves under the basket, anticipating rebounds.
