Pummererille

Pummererille is a small village and municipality in the eastern foothills of the Verdin Alps, a fictional region. It has an estimated population of 1,150 and covers about 12.8 square kilometers. The settlement lies along the Sello River, with surrounding farmland and woodland that dominate the landscape.

First documented in the late 13th century as Pommeterium, the name Pummererille is believed to derive from a landholder’s name and a diminutive suffix. The historic core is built around a hilltop fortress ruin and the parish church of Saint Lawrence, dating to the 15th century.

Economy centers on agriculture and small crafts. Fruit orchards, cereals, and dairy farming are common, supplemented by timber and light manufacturing in nearby hamlets. The village serves as a local service hub for surrounding farms, with a weekly market and small shops. Transport relies on a regional road network and a bus line; the nearest railway station lies about 18 kilometers away.

Cultural life revolves around the harvest festival in autumn and the summer village market. Points of interest include the hilltop fortress ruins, the 15th-century church, and a small local history museum. Ring routes and footpaths connect Pummererille to neighboring settlements, drawing hikers and day-trippers.

Governance is organized by a municipal council of 11 members, led by a mayor. The council handles land-use planning, cultural heritage, and local services, and it participates in a regional association of municipalities to coordinate infrastructure and tourism development.
