Pulzusszerek

Pulzusszerek is a term used in Hungarian to refer substances or agents that influence the pulse, i.e., the heart rate and rhythm. It is not a formal, formalized pharmacological category, but rather a colloquial or descriptive label applied in teaching or clinical notes to group drugs or substances that modify the pulse.

In pharmacology, the effects that underlie pulzusszer effects are described as chronotropic actions: positive chronotropes increase heart rate, while negative chronotropes decrease it. Positive chronotropic agents include substances such as adrenaline (epinephrine), isoproterenol, and certain antimuscarinic drugs (which reduce vagal tone). Negative chronotropic agents cover beta-blockers (for example, metoprolol, propranolol), non-dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers (verapamil, diltiazem), and ivabradine, which reduce sinus node activity.

Clinically, pulzusszerek may be relevant in contexts such as bradycardia, tachycardia, arrhythmias, or during resuscitation and hemodynamic management. The choice of agent depends on the desired effect on heart rate and rhythm, patient conditions, and potential adverse effects. For example, atropine or adrenaline might be used in emergencies to increase heart rate, while beta-blockers or calcium channel blockers may be used to control tachyarrhythmias.

Risks associated with pulzusszerek include arrhythmias, hypotension, ischemia, or unwanted changes in blood pressure and perfusion. They require appropriate monitoring, typically with ECG and hemodynamic assessment. In formal medical terminology, these effects are described with terms like chronotropic agents and antiarrhythmic drugs, while pulzusszerek remains a nonstandard, umbrella-style label.
