Pulssitoimintaa
Pulssitoimintaa refers to the rhythmic expansion and recoil of arteries caused by the heart's pumping action. This pulsation, commonly known as a pulse, can be felt at various points in the body where an artery lies close to the skin's surface, such as the wrist (radial artery) or the neck (carotid artery). The rate, rhythm, and strength of these pulsations provide important information about a person's cardiovascular health. A normal resting pulse rate for adults typically falls between 60 and 100 beats per minute, though this can vary based on factors like age, fitness level, and emotional state. Irregularities in the pulse, such as a very fast (tachycardia), very slow (bradycardia), or erratic rhythm, can indicate underlying medical conditions that require attention. Medical professionals routinely check the pulse as part of a physical examination to assess heart function and overall well-being.
