Pubsubviestintää

Pubsubviestintää refers to a messaging pattern known as publish-subscribe, commonly used in software and distributed systems. In this model, senders of messages, known as publishers, do not send messages directly to specific receivers, known as subscribers. Instead, publishers categorize messages into classes without knowledge of which subscribers, if any, exist. Similarly, subscribers express interest in one or more classes of messages and receive only the messages that are of interest to them, without knowledge of any publishers.

This decoupling of publishers and subscribers allows for a more flexible and scalable architecture. Publishers can add new message types, and subscribers can be added or removed without affecting other parts of the system. This is particularly useful in applications where components need to communicate asynchronously and where the number of components or the volume of messages can change dynamically.

The publish-subscribe pattern is implemented through a message broker or event bus. Publishers send their messages to the broker, which then routes them to all subscribers that have registered interest in that specific message type or topic. This intermediary acts as a central hub, managing the flow of messages and ensuring that they reach the appropriate destinations. Popular technologies that facilitate pubsubviestintää include Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Google Cloud Pub/Sub. The pattern promotes loose coupling, fault tolerance, and real-time data processing.
