Protoninsiirtona

Protoninsiirtona is a hypothetical quasiparticle-like excitation proposed in speculative theories of proton transport in hydrogen-bond networks. The concept aims to reconcile localized proton transfer with coherent propagation along one- or two-dimensional lattices.

Theoretical models describe protoninsiirtona as a bound state of a proton and a lattice distortion whose dynamics are governed by nonlinear equations. It is analogous to solitons in anharmonic lattices and to polarons in conducting solids, but specialized to protonic degrees of freedom.

In this framework, a protoninsiirtona would carry a unit positive charge and move through a material as a localized, self-stabilizing distortion that shifts the surrounding hydrogen-bond network as it travels. The effective mass is predicted to be small, allowing relatively high mobility under suitable conditions; the excitation energy is low, on the order of tens of millielectronvolts.

Potential contexts include proton-conducting oxides, hydrated polymers, and biological proton channels where strong coupling between protons and lattice or solvent reorganization occurs.

As of now, protoninsiirtona remains theoretical; there is no widely accepted experimental evidence for its existence. Related phenomena include the Grotthuss mechanism of proton hopping and soliton-like excitations in nonlinear lattices.
