Proportsioonil

Proportsioonil is an Estonian term derived from proportsioon, meaning proportion or ratio. In ordinary language and in science, the word functions as the form that expresses being “in proportion” or “in a proportional manner.” It is commonly used to describe relationships where quantities, sizes or qualities bear a fixed, corresponding relationship to one another.

In mathematics and related fields, proportionality describes how one quantity changes in relation to another. The concept is often written with the notation a ∝ b (a is proportional to b) or with the equation a/b = k, where k is a constant. When two or more quantities are proportsioonil, they increase or decrease together according to a constant ratio, producing scalable or similar outcomes.
