Programmeerite is a fictional mineral introduced in speculative mineralogical discussions as a thought experiment about how digital culture and programming concepts could influence mineral naming, classification, and properties. The name combines the idea of programming with the conventional mineral suffix -ite.

Etymology and naming conventions are central to the concept. The term is intended to reflect a cross-disciplinary link between computing and geology, rather than to indicate a real natural species. In published fictional or hypothetical contexts, programmer-oriented terms are used to illustrate how non-geological ideas might shape material description.

Composition and structure in fictional accounts describe programmeite as a silicate-like framework with embedded conductive inclusions, often depicted as graphene-like carbon networks and transition-metal nanoparticles. It is said to crystallize in a monoclinic system with approximate unit-cell parameters and variable composition, emphasizing a flexible, doped crystal chemistry rather than a fixed formula.

Occurrence and synthesis are typically described as non-natural. Programmeite is not known to occur in nature and is usually presented as a laboratory-created material in thought experiments or science-fiction contexts. Suggested synthesis involves high-temperature melting of silica-alumina precursors with copper and carbon doping, followed by controlled cooling to encourage crystalline order and network formation.

Physical properties in these narratives include a hardness around 5.5–6 on the Mohs scale, a metallic to resinous luster, and a gray to iridescent streak. It is attributed electrical conductivity due to embedded carbon networks and metal inclusions, with optical properties varying according to dopant and structure.
