Producet

Producet is a neologism used in some production management discussions to denote the effective, customer-ready output of a production process within a set period. It blends “produce” and “product” and is intended to emphasize readiness for delivery rather than mere production volume. The term is not standard and is not widely used in official manufacturing metrics.

Definition and variants: Net producet is the number of units that pass final inspection and are ready for shipment within the period. Gross producet includes units that required rework and scrap; some definitions separate out rework from the yield.

Calculation: Net producet rate = good units shipped per period. Gross producet rate = total units leaving the line, including rework. Example: On a daily run, 900 units ship as good, 50 are reworked; net producet = 900, gross producet = 950.

Relation to other metrics: Producet relates to throughput, yield, and capacity, providing a single figure that reflects both production quantity and quality performance. It is sometimes used to align production planning with delivery commitments.

Limitations and adoption: Because of a lack of standard definition, comparability is limited; organizations should explicitly define what counts as an acceptable unit and whether rework is included. Clarity in definitions is essential for meaningful comparisons across lines or facilities.
