Processas

Processas is a term used in some fields of process modeling to refer to elementary procedural units that together form a workflow. In this usage, a processa encapsulates a single task or operation, along with its inputs, outputs, constraints, and the rules governing its execution. Processas can be combined into graphs describing complex processes, and they support sequencing, branching, looping, and parallel execution.

Each processa has attributes such as duration, cost, required resources, and quality criteria. States may include pending, running, completed, or failed, and transitions reflect events or conditions that trigger movement between states. Processas are often represented in diagrams or models using nodes and edges, similar to steps in BPMN or state machines, but with a focus on the modularity and reusability of units.

In practice, processas help identify bottlenecks, enable reusability, support simulation, and facilitate optimization. They are often described in lightweight meta-models that allow domain-specific extensions.

Etymology and usage: The term is used chiefly in specialized literature and is not universally standardized; in many contexts processa may be synonymous with “task” or “step,” or used as a higher-order unit than a simple task. It is more common in multilingual or cross-disciplinary works that seek a neutral term for procedural units.
