Prezidentsstvo, a term derived from the Russian word "президентство," refers to the office or term of a president, particularly in the context of the Russian Federation. The presidency is a key political position in Russia, holding significant executive powers and responsibilities. The president is the head of state and government, serving as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, and is responsible for the implementation of national policies and laws.

The president is elected by the people for a six-year term, with the possibility of one re-election. The presidential election process involves a two-round system, where if no candidate receives more than 50% of the votes in the first round, a second round is held between the top two candidates. The president's powers include the appointment of the prime minister and other high-ranking officials, the ability to dissolve the State Duma (the lower house of the Russian parliament), and the power to declare a state of emergency.
