Pressurisera

Pressurisera is a term used in engineering to refer to a device that maintains or regulates the pressure of a contained fluid within a closed system. The word is not standardized and appears in limited texts; it is sometimes treated as a variant or translation of pressurizer or related pressure-control equipment.

A typical pressurisera consists of a sealed vessel holding liquid and an inert gas in a separate space; heating elements, a fill or vent line, a gas supply, and sensors are connected to a control system. The pressure is controlled by adjusting the vapor pressure of the liquid by heating, by adding or removing gas from the space, or by a combination of both. The device may be designed to keep pressure within set limits to prevent cavitation, phase change, or structural loads, and to ensure stable operation of connected equipment.

Common applications include nuclear reactor primary coolant loops, chemical reactors, hydraulic systems, and process piping where precise pressure control is essential. In many cases, pressurisera terms may be applied interchangeably with pressurizer, expansion tank, or accumulator, depending on geography and industry conventions.

Safety considerations include pressure rating, relief valves, automatic shutdown or isolation upon fault, instrumentation for accurate pressure measurement, and compliance with relevant codes such as the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code or equivalent national standards.
