Predomisliti

Predomisliti is a verb used in several South Slavic languages, especially Croatian, Serbian, and Bosnian. It denotes the act of reconsidering or changing one’s mind about a plan, decision, or opinion after further thought. The reflexive form predomisliti se is the most common way to express that a person has altered their own stance, while the non-reflexive predomisliti can be used transitively with a direct object, such as predomisliti odluku or predomisliti plan.

Etymology and usage notes: The word combines a prefix meaning before or again with the base around thinking or forming an idea. The sense is to rethink or revise a previous stance. In everyday language, predomisliti se is used to describe a voluntary shift in position after consideration, often in contexts of plans, decisions, or opinions. It is stylistically similar to synonyms such as preispitati (to reevaluate) and promijeniti mišljenje (to change one’s mind).

- Nisam se predomislio oko tog plana. (I have not changed my mind about that plan.)
