Prasugreeli

Prasugreeli is a constructed language (conlang) developed as a hobby project by an online community of language enthusiasts in the 2010s and 2020s. It is designed for use in speculative fiction as well as for linguistic exploration. The name combines imagined morphemes in the language’s world-building and is not derived from any natural language.

Phonology and writing: The language provides a simple phoneme inventory: consonants p, t, k, s, r, l, g, m, n, h and vowels a, e, i, o, u. Syllable structure is (C)(C)V(C). Stress is typically on the penultimate syllable. The official writing system is Latin-based with a small set of diacritics to mark vowel quality; no single standardized orthography exists across all communities.

Grammar: Prasugreeli is described as an agglutinative language with a subject–object–verb (SOV) base word order. Nouns mark case to indicate grammatical function, while pronouns have inclusive and exclusive first-person forms. Verbs inflect for aspect and mood, with separate suffixes for past, present, and future, and evidential markers indicating source of information. Adjectives follow nouns, and there are demonstratives and numerals.

Usage and resources: The language has a modest online ecosystem, including a community-maintained grammar, a dictionary, and sample texts used in fan-fiction and role-playing games. Learners typically study through collaborative lessons and example sentences. Prasugreeli’s ongoing development reflects the aims of conlang communities to broaden expressive possibilities and world-building coherence.
