Prandtlin

Prandtlin is a small municipality in the fictional region of Northmarch in the country of Valoria. It sits in a broad river valley along the Glint stream and has a population of about 4,600. The municipality covers several parishes and forms the lowest tier of local government, with a council elected every four years.

The name Prandtlin is of early medieval origin, combining a root meaning "meadow" with a diminutive suffix. The landscape includes gentle hills to the west and farmland to the east, at an elevation around 250–350 meters. The climate is temperate, with mild summers and cold winters; average annual precipitation is around 700 mm.

Prandtlin appears in records from 1185. It developed as a market village serving surrounding agricultural communities. A weaving workshop and later small-scale manufacturing arose in the 18th and 19th centuries. The town hall was rebuilt after a fire in 1902. Local government was reorganized in 1970s municipal reforms.

Today the economy combines agriculture—grain, dairy—and light manufacturing, including a small textile cooperative that bears the town's name. The transport network consists mainly of regional roads; the nearest rail connection is in a neighboring town, about 6–8 kilometers away. There is regular bus service to the capital and to surrounding communities.

Key landmarks include Saint Michael Church (15th century) and the historic market square. Nearby Prandt Wood Nature Reserve provides hiking trails. An annual harvest festival in autumn is a local tradition.

The population is aging slightly, with a mix of families and retirees. The local schools cover primary education, with secondary schooling available in a nearby town. The community speaks Valorian; a minority speaks migrant languages. Most residents identify as secular or Catholic.
