Prétablist
Prétablist is a term used to describe a person who is perceived to be excessively prepared for various situations, often to the point of being overly cautious or meticulous. The term is a portmanteau of the French word "prêt," meaning ready, and "tablist," which can be loosely translated as a list-maker or planner. Individuals labeled as prétablist might engage in extensive research, create detailed schedules, and pack an abundance of supplies for even minor events. This behavior stems from a desire for control and a strong aversion to unexpected circumstances or potential problems. While sometimes viewed as admirable for their foresight and self-sufficiency, others may find prétablists to be impractical or even anxiety-inducing due to their constant state of readiness. The term is often used informally and can carry a slightly critical or humorous connotation, depending on the context and speaker's intent. It highlights a personality trait characterized by an extreme emphasis on anticipating and mitigating all possible eventualities, ensuring they are never caught off guard.
