Postmillennialists

Postmillennialists are adherents to a specific eschatological view within Christianity. This perspective holds that the Second Coming of Jesus Christ will occur after the millennium. The millennium itself is understood not as a literal 1000-year reign of Christ on earth, but rather as a long period of time, often interpreted as the current church age, during which the influence of the Gospel will gradually and progressively triumph over evil in the world.

Key to postmillennialism is the belief in the increasing success of the Christian message and the establishment of God's kingdom on earth through the preaching of the Gospel and the work of the Holy Spirit. This progressive triumph leads to a period of widespread peace, righteousness, and prosperity, often referred to as the millennium. Following this golden age, Christ will then return in his physical form.

Postmillennialism contrasts with premillennialism, which anticipates Christ's return before the millennium, and amillennialism, which views the millennium as symbolic of the current church age, with no distinct future earthly reign of Christ. Postmillennialists often emphasize the cultural and societal impact of Christianity, believing that the world will become increasingly Christianized before Christ's return. This view is often associated with optimism regarding the future and the transformative power of the Gospel.
