Postmenstruaalinen

Postmenstruaalinen refers to the phase of the menstrual cycle that occurs after menstruation has ended and before ovulation begins. This period is also known as the follicular phase, as it is characterized by the development of ovarian follicles in preparation for ovulation. During the postmenstruaalinen phase, the lining of the uterus, the endometrium, begins to thicken again under the influence of estrogen. Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) is released by the pituitary gland, stimulating the growth of several ovarian follicles. Typically, one of these follicles will become dominant and mature, while the others will regress. This dominant follicle contains the egg that will eventually be released during ovulation. The length of the postmenstruaalinen phase can vary significantly among individuals and from cycle to cycle, but it generally lasts from the end of menstruation until ovulation occurs. The hormonal changes during this time are crucial for preparing the body for potential pregnancy.
