Posteriordriven

Posteriordriven is a term that describes a method of propulsion or movement where the force is applied from the rear of an object. This concept is widely applicable across various fields, from physics and engineering to biology and even narrative storytelling.

In physics and engineering, posteriordriven propulsion often refers to systems where a force is exerted backward, causing the object to move forward due to Newton's third law of motion. Examples include rocket engines, which expel hot gases backward to propel a spacecraft forward, or the fan in a jet engine, which pushes air backward to create thrust. Similarly, a boat's propeller pushes water backward, moving the boat forward.

In biology, posteriordriven movement can be observed in various organisms. Some aquatic animals, like certain types of jellyfish, pulsate their bells, expelling water from their posterior end to move forward. In terrestrial locomotion, while not always strictly posteriordriven, the push-off from the hind limbs in many animals can be considered a significant posteriordriven component of their gait.

The term can also be used metaphorically. In storytelling, a plot might be described as posteriordriven if the resolution or climax dictates the events that led up to it, rather than the events naturally progressing towards a conclusion. The focus is on the outcome shaping the preceding narrative. The core idea remains consistent: movement or influence originating from the back.
