Posmenopáusicas refers to individuals who have gone through menopause. Menopause is a natural biological process marking the end of a woman's reproductive years. It is officially diagnosed when a woman has not had a menstrual period for 12 consecutive months. This typically occurs between the ages of 45 and 55, though the age can vary.

The transition into menopause, known as perimenopause, can begin years before the final menstrual period and is characterized by fluctuating hormone levels, primarily estrogen and progesterone. Symptoms experienced during perimenopause and after menopause can include hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, sleep disturbances, mood changes, and a decreased libido. Over time, hormone levels continue to decline, which can lead to other long-term changes.

After menopause, women may experience bone loss, increasing the risk of osteoporosis. Cardiovascular health can also be affected due to changes in cholesterol levels. The genitourinary system can also undergo changes, leading to vaginal atrophy and potentially urinary incontinence. These postmenopausal changes can impact quality of life, but many symptoms can be managed through lifestyle adjustments, hormone therapy, or other medical treatments. Regular medical check-ups are important for monitoring health and managing any potential complications associated with postmenopause.
