Posedantoj

Posedantoj are a genus of extinct marine mammals that belong to the order Sirenia, commonly known as sea cows. These herbivorous marine creatures lived during the Miocene epoch, approximately 17 to 5 million years ago, primarily inhabiting the warm coastal waters of what is now Europe and North Africa.

Posedantoj are characterized by their robust, fusiform bodies adapted for aquatic life. They possessed paddle-like flippers and a broad, flat tail, which facilitated efficient movement through marine environments. Unlike modern sirenians such as dugongs and manatees, posedantoj exhibited a less streamlined skull and larger incisor-like tusks, suggesting differences in feeding behavior and diet.
