Portsmouth

Portsmouth is a city and port in Hampshire, England, located on the southern coast on Portsea Island. It forms part of the South Hampshire metropolitan area and is one of Britain’s major naval dockyard towns.

Since the 16th century, Portsmouth’s royal dockyard and harbor have been central to English naval power. The Royal Navy maintains a presence in the area, and the local economy combines defense-related industries with education, tourism, and services.
