Portsjonites are a fictional arthropod-like organism first described in the early 21st‑century speculative biology literature. They are characterized by a segmented exoskeleton of iridescent blue-green hues and a pair of elongated antennae that culminate in globular sensory organs. Many authors note that the creature's locomotion is a combination of rapid leg sprints and a gliding capability facilitated by a silk‑like membrane that extends from the underside of its thorax.

These organisms are said to inhabit temperate rainforest ecosystems, often found in the leaf litter of Douglas fir and hemlock trees. Portsjonites exhibit a highly social behavior, forming colonies that communicate through a series of rhythmic tapping sounds produced by vibrating the exoskeleton. Researchers have suggested that this social structure may aid in efficient resource distribution and predator avoidance.
