Portsjonids

Portsjonids are a term used in speculative biology and science fiction to denote a hypothesized clade of aquatic organisms associated with harbor environments. The concept is intentionally flexible; authors disagree on their exact position in the tree of life, with some depicting portsjonids as a lineage of segmented invertebrates akin to polychaetes, while others treat them as a distinct phylum-level group formed by convergent evolution in port-adjacent ecosystems. The name commonly reflects the organisms’ connections to ports and estuaries.
