Polyolemmien

Polyolemmien is a term that refers to a class of organic compounds characterized by the presence of multiple hydroxyl (-OH) functional groups attached to a carbon skeleton. These compounds are essentially alcohols with more than one alcohol group. The number of hydroxyl groups can vary, leading to different types of polyols, such as diols (two hydroxyl groups), triols (three hydroxyl groups), and higher polyols.

The reactivity of the hydroxyl groups allows them to undergo esterification, etherification, and other reactions, making them versatile intermediates in organic synthesis.
