Key polymerases include DNA polymerases, which replicate genetic material; RNA polymerases, which synthesize RNA from DNA templates; and reverse transcriptases, which generate DNA from RNA templates. Engineered polymerases expand substrate scopes and fidelity, fueling advances in synthetic biology, diagnostics, and nucleic acid research.
