PET can be produced in a variety of forms, including fibers, films, and bottles. It is often recycled, as it can be melted and reformed into new products. However, PET has also been criticized for its environmental impact, as it can take hundreds of years to decompose and may be contaminated with chemicals such as antimony, which is often used as a catalyst in its production. As a result, efforts have been made to develop more sustainable alternatives to PET, such as bioplastics.

PET is also used in the manufacture of woven fabrics, which are valued for their softness, wrinkle resistance, and water repellency. The weave and density of these fabrics can be adjusted to create different types of fabric, including static-resistant and moisture-resistant materials.
